The Grand Master of Tao Chan Wing Chun, Abbot Ven. Chi Sim, also Sifu Lei Li, (translated from Cantonese into German: Master of the Power of Thunder. This name was given by Sifu Ip Chun), born in 1972, 1st lineage holder and founder of Tao Chan Wing Chun to South Shaolin is the oldest and ONLY direct German students of Grand Master Prof. Dr. Ip Chun, son of Grand Master Ip Man with a Sifu title and license to teach in Hong Hong. He is the older Kung Fu brother (Si-Hing) of the actor from Ip Man in the films, Donnie Yen, who is also a student of Sifu Ip Chun and was also largely responsible for ensuring that in addition to the pure fighting, ethical behavior in the Ip Man films have been considered.

We would like to point out again that there is NOT a single other direct student of Sifu Ip Chun in the German-speaking area who has received the teaching license. This also applies to certain people who claim they are representatives of both of Ip Man's sons.

Abbot Chi Sim leads the line of the founder of Wing Chun and the grand master of Sifu Ip Man, the legendary South Shaolin Abbot Chi Sim, who is also the teacher of the Buddhist nun Ng Mui, who named her style after her student Yim Wing Chun only line worldwide.

Abbot Venerable Chi Sim / Hae Sun (Perfection of Virtue / Virtuous Wisdom), is a fully ordained Buddhist monk of the Korean Chan / Zen tradition and a direct student of Grand Master Prof. Dr. Park, Buddhist patriarch and belongs to the 81st generation in the succession of Buddha and the 54th generation of the Chan monks going back to the founder of the Shaolin monastery Boddhidharma and has been the 1st fully ordained Buddhist monk in the main line of Wing Chun since the fall for 350 years of the South Shaolin Monastery, which teaches Wing Chun. To restore the correct Buddhist lineage in Wing Chun, he received special permission to grow his hair and is allowed to wear secular clothing outside of the temple complex and is also not subject to celibacy. He is also Chancellor of the Taego Buddhist Order for Europe.

Abbot Chi Sim is the founder of the International Tao Chan Wing Chun Organization (TCWCO) and holder of the 10th Duan / Dan Grand Master degree of the TCWCO, Tao Chan Warrior Monk in the tradition of South Shaolin, 81st generation of monks after Buddha, 54th generation the Chan monks of the Patriarch Bodhidharma (founder of the Shaolin Temple).

He has been practicing Wing Chun for over 35 years and has been a direct student of Grandmaster Ip Chun in Hong Kong for 25 years. At a young age he came into contact with martial arts, especially judo, as his uncle was a South German master and Dan was a judo carrier.
In contrast to most other Western Wing Chun teachers, Venerable Chi Sim has spent not just a few weeks but many years in Hong Kong teaching Sifu Ip Chun, where he has a second home. With the consent of Sifu Ip Chun, further instruction was given in the late 1990s by Sifu Lo Man Kam, the nephew of Grandmaster Ip Man and cousin of Sifu Ip Chun.

Furthermore, Ven studied. Chi Sim also used the Wu Tan Tai Chi style in Hong Kong under the world-famous "Bodyguard of Tai Chi" and Grand Master and founder of Wu Tan Tai Chi, who had used Tai Chi in full contact competitions for decades without being defeated.

Abbot Chi Sim was appointed a lifetime member of the Ving Tsun Athletic Association of the World Wing Chun Association in Hong Kong, as well as the Ip Chun Wing Chun Academy, the Ip Man Martial Arts Association and the World Wing Chun Union. He is also a member of the German Buddhist Union.

As the only representative for Germany, he successfully participated in the Guinness World Record in Wing Chun in Hong Kong in 2008 and also appeared on Hong Kong TV.
Venerable Chi Sim has taught members of the famous Hong Kong Jockey Club, several retirement homes and Chinese children, and has taken part in numerous public appearances in Hong Kong in the area of Wing Chun. His direct students include members of the German SEK, the German police, the Hong Kong police, who themselves often have black belts or high dan wearers of other martial arts such as judo, karate, jiu jitsu, Thai boxing, kickboxing Arnis / Escrima.

He was also an official attendee at the press conference for the film Ip Man Zero and is friends with Danny Yuen, who starred in Ip Man in the films. He also took part in the 1st World Ving Tsun Conference in Hong Kong in 1999.

Venerable Chi Sim also studied Chinese medicine, acupuncture and naturopathic treatments in Germany and Hong Kong over a period of several years.

Venerable Chi Sim completed a university degree in Buddhism at the Institute for Buddhist Studies, World Buddhist University, Bangkok and the Dong Bang Buddhist Monk University in South Korea and was for some time an ordained Buddhist monk in the Theravada tradition in Thailand. He is also a direct student of the Chan Buddhist Patriarch in the teaching tradition of Chan Buddhism after Boddhidharma in the same tradition as Shaolin. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Buddhist Studies from the University of South Wales, UK. Then another Master of Arts degree in Buddhism at the University of South Wales, Great Britain. He is assistant professor of Buddhism at the Institute for Buddhist Studies and responsible for training new monks. In 2017 he was appointed abbot by the Chan Patriarch and now heads several of his own Buddhist temples in Nuremberg and Munich.
In his sporting career, Abbot Chi Sim Chi Sim is also a graduate of several ultramarathons of 100 km over the Zugspitze, marathons in Hong Kong and Germany, leader of a professional hiking group in Hong Kong, Thai boxer and student of one of the Thai boxing champions of Hong Kong and Thailand, Certified Survial Expert according to Level 3 (Advanced Survival) from the father of modern survival who is a member of the Special Forces of the British military. Venerable Chi Sim has also done several parachute jumps in recent years.

In his normal professional and private life, Venerable Chi Sim grew up with Chinese in Germany and was therefore able to internalize Chinese culture and put it into practice at an early age.

Abbot Chi Sim studied business administration at the university at a young age with a degree in business administration in the areas of international and intercultural management with a focus on China, management consulting and insurance and finance. Additional studies in German tax law and English insurance law.
As CEO of a management consultancy for management, legal and taxation for China, he is one of the best-known China experts in Germany, who has been supporting German companies and managers in the intercultural area as well as in the legal and tax area of China for over 15 years and is a regular interviewee of Press in newspapers and on the radio. In addition, he was a friend of the last descendant of Confucius Prof. Dr. Kong Teh-Chen in Taiwan ( 2008), head of the Confucius family and advisor to the President of the Republic of China.

In 2017, after his 1st World Guiness record in Hong Kong in 2009, he achieved further historical records such as the 1st parachute jump from 6000 m height from an airplane with a Buddhist Zen meditation in free fall with medical proof of the meditation state and a meditation pulse during the free fall with the following 1st worldwide execution of the 1st form of Wing Chun during a jump with the parachute and in autumn 2017 the ascent of the summit of the Zugspitze for a duration of 2 days out of season with an overnight stay in a bivouac directly at the Zugspitze and the hoisting of the Tao Chan Wing Chun flag at the summit as the 1st Wing Chun organization worldwide.

The Tao Chan Wing Chun Organization is the first traditional Wing Chun organization to have its own hymn composed by Venerable Chi Sim personally with the support of a Buddhist professor from Malaysia.
